Brecon Bach Pink Floyd
Reg: NZWPCS & NZGHS
Colour: Perlino Breed: Section A Welsh Mountain
Height: 11.2hh Sire: Ascot Pernod
Dam: Imperial Play-on (Imp)
Floyd has been tested with the following at the Equine Parentage and Genetic Services Centre at Massey:Ee Aa CrCr Gg
(Capital or uncapital letters stand for different genes. Capital letters stand for the dominant, or 'on' gene; uncapital stands for the recessive, or 'off' gene.)
“The perlino carries two cream dilution genes as well. These are inherited from either a palomino or buckskin parent. The perlino must have one black gene and two cream dilution genes. Crossing two perlinos will produce a perlino. Crossing a perlino with a cremello will produce perlino or cremello every time. Perlino crossed with sorrel or chestnut will produce palomino or buckskin. Perlinos crossed with bays produce buckskin about seventy-five percent of the time. If neither parent passed on the black gene, the foal will be palomino. Perlino crossed with any other colour will produce a cream diluted colour every time. The foal will not necessarily be double diluted, because the perlino can only pass on one cream gene. Crossing a perlino with a bay, sorrel or chestnut will never produce those colours.” Ron Petracek
Floyd has been vet checked and passed with flying colours both conformational and temperament wise, which is a true credit to his breeder and his very successful welsh lines from both sides of his parents.
Floyd has so far produced 2 foals to date this season, with 2 more to come. Foals are fillies, one is palomino and the other is a smoky black! So we are really excited to see what the other 2 foals will be. One is to an outside mare due in a few weeks, and the other is to my 15.2hh Quarter horse x ASH mare (yes he can serve the taller ladies as well!).
Floyd is available to a limited number of mares this season for more information on our amazing boy please go to our website http://www.pallygem.com/ or call us on 07 886 7524.
